RIVENBARK NAMED TO BOARD
MONTGOMERY, AL…Dr. Ken Rivenbark has been named to the Friends of the Alabama Governor’s Mansion Board of Directors, announced Board President Stephen Brickley. Dr. Rivenbark, a nationally known education consultant, is the creator and host of the cable television show “Southern Heirlooms with Ken Rivenbark.”
“We’re delighted to welcome Ken to our board,” commented Brickley. “We are confident that his expertise will be an incredible asset to our efforts.”
Dr. Rivenbark is the owner of Huntsville’s Rivenbark & Roper Antiques, home to the largest collection of silver in North Alabama. The antique gallery offers furnishings from the 18th, 19th and early-20th centuries as well as art from around the world.
His television series, “Southern Heirlooms with Ken Rivenbark,” offers informative segments about how to best care for family heirlooms and spotlights traditionally classic Southern homes and their personal collections of family heirlooms. The show airs in Huntsville, Montgomery, Jackson, Tennessee, Panama City, Florida and Houston, Texas.
A 20-year veteran educator, Dr. Rivenbark is a much sought after consultant on training educators in the teaching of writing. He was listed in “Who’s Who Among America’s Top Teachers” in 1998, 2005, and 2007. In 2006, he authored Poetry and Prose Prompts: A Quick Guide to Teaching Style that is currently sold in seven countries. He has written five additional publications.
Dr. Rivenbark is a graduate of Leadership Huntsville/Madison, Class 22, Huntsville Committee of 100, and Rotary International. He serves on several boards that emphasize community support: ambassador for Hudson Alpha Institute for Biotechnology, Village of Promise Board of Directors, and Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors. Additionally, Dr. Rivenbark is available for speaking engagements on a variety of topics.
Friends of the Alabama Governor’s Mansion is a non-profit organization that ensures the preservation of the historic Alabama Governor’s Mansion Complex located on South Perry Street in downtown Montgomery.
